About Navel, straight from my heart.
A note from mama mentor, doula, yogi and founder Sarah Longacre.
After 15+ years of supporting mothers in birth plus in and around mama-hood, I became one.
I had seen it all: 600 births as a doula, over 2,000 prenatal yoga classes as a teacher, a company founded just for moms, seen mothers lose their babies, lose their minds, and somehow come back again. And now it was my turn. And despite everything I had seen and been through, the toughest part of my life was—and is—loving my new body.
This new “me?” My new “me” was something that no one warned me about. This new “me” took work to love unconditionally. This new “me” had to soften, let go and not take on the pressure of being something I wasn’t. It was and still is daily hard work to love the new mama “me.”
We all know having a child changes your life. But do we really, really talk openly about the physical and emotional changes that are along for the ride? And why do we put up with the pressure to be “the perfect mom” and get our “pre-baby body” back? Fuck that!
My friends, this is why Navel was born.
We are building a tribe, where us mamas in the middle of it all can band together, speak honestly and support each other with compassion. Mamas are everyday heroes, and Navel will be here to celebrate and support every mama’s mission, every minute of every day.
